2015.

In 2015, Leah received an Irwin Grant from the University of California Santa Cruz to build a metal sculpture. 

The piece featured 13 modular parts of 14 gauge steele, all cut using a metal bansaw and angle grinder.

12/13 of the pieces were then bent and folded evenly using a metal bender and vise. The only section featuring welding was the "cockpit" of the ufo. 

the 13 separate pieces attached together by interlocking edges, drilling holes in them, and fastening them with hexbolts.
